Comilla Victorians (COV) and Rangpur Riders (RAN) will play the second game of the Bangladesh Premier League 2023 on Friday (January 6) at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The Victorians are the defending champions. They defeated Fortune Barishal by a mere margin of one run to lift the cup. They will be missing the services of players like Sunil Narine, Faf du Plessis, and Moeen Ali, who played key roles for the team. Litton Das has been appointed the skipper of the side for this season.

Rangpur Riders were not a part of the tournament last season. They won the tournament in 2017 under the leadership of Mashrafe Mortaza. This season, wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan will be captaining the side. The team has signed a few experienced Pakistani players, including Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Nawaz, and Haris Rauf. However, only Malik will be available for the entire season. Sikandar Raza has also been signed, and he will play only a few matches before moving to UAE to participate in ILT20. Pathum Nissanka and Jeffery Vandersay, two Sri Lankan players, are also a part of the team. Still, they will be available for selection only after the completion of the ongoing series against India.
